Dr Tam Bui

Dr. Tam Bui was born in Vietnam and at age 5 escaped communism on a boat to the Philippines with his mother and older brother. They eventually were reunited with his father in Kent, WA. After high school, Dr. Bui joined the United States Navy as a Corpsman. Following his Naval Service, he returned home and graduated from University of Washington – Seattle with a Bachelor Degree in Economics and minor in Political Science. He received his medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL as a recipient of HPSP scholarship. He completed Internal Medicine Internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego and Family Medicine Residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. He was blessed to complete Medical Acupuncture training during his residency. His holistic approach to pain using acupuncture and manual medicine kept him busy as he was sought out by patients and peers for help.  While serving as the Regimental Surgeon for 5th Marines at Camp Pendleton, he continued to advance his education and sought additional training in Prolotherapy and Perineural Injection Therapy (PIT) to improve care for his Marines.  He saw the possibilities of combining Acupuncture and PIT; driving him to spend countless hours studying and refining his approach. Still with many questions to be answered, he transitioned into the Army in 2018 to pursue a second residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to advance his knowledge. He is dual board certified in Family Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is currently on Active Duty at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. He continues to study and advance his work and is now focusing on how to layer on Functional Medicine to not only treat Pain but improve Performance for his patients.
